BPD & Complex Trauma workshop

Adelaide, 3rd March 2020

In this one-day workshop, participants will develop a clearer understanding of BPD and Complex Trauma, their differences and similarities, and learn effective strategies to support client-centred outcomes in challenging situations.

 

Topics covered include:

  • Responding effectively in crisis situations.
  • The function of deliberate self-harm and its relationship to survival and safety.
  • Reducing relevant risk factors and promoting targeted protective factors in suicide and self-harm.
  • Effective referral and collaboration tools.
  • Maintaining boundaries whilst supporting emotional growth and recovery.
  • Trauma-Informed Care and Practice – its role in supporting recovery-orientated outcomes.

 

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for Inner city homelessness services including, managers, support workers, NDIS workers, and practitioners supporting people in vulnerable psychosocial situations and who are experiencing the impacts of BPD and Complex Trauma.

 

About the facilitator

Brett Bridges is a practicing psychiatric nurse, qualified trainer, therapist, and complex care specialist. He has held senior clinical roles in crisis work, case management, forensic and personality disorder specialist services. Brett has extensive experience guiding treatment and support approaches when working with people experiencing BPD and Complex Trauma in a variety of settings including mental health, homelessness, domestic violence and AOD.

 

This workshop is offered by Our Curious Minds in partnership with Neami National.

  • Our Curious Minds provides training and consultation in response to mental health-related risk, complexity and trauma-related contexts.
  • Neami National is a not-for-profit organisation providing services to improve mental health and wellbeing in local communities around Australia.
